How is this different from a normal shower enclosure?
A shower enclosure only has to contain water. A steam enclosure has to contain vapour and heat, so it runs to the ceiling, seals at the head with a transom, and needs continuous perimeter seals. A standard shower door will not hold steam.
My steam escapes into the bathroom. Can it be fixed?
Often yes. It is usually the head detail or worn seals rather than the glass itself. We will inspect it and tell you whether it is a seal job or a new enclosure.
Can the door still open outward normally?
Yes. Steam doors are hung to open out, so the enclosure stays sealed while it is in use and drains properly when it is opened.
Does the glass need special treatment?
It benefits from it. Constant vapour and mineral content make untreated steam glass cloud faster, so EnduroShield is worth asking about at quote time.
