Overview

What this service covers.

There are two different jobs people call a window replacement. One is a new sealed unit into a frame that is still sound, which is the cheap fix. The other is replacing the frame and the glass together, which is what uPVC replacement means. The measure tells us which one you actually need, and we will say if it is the cheaper one.

uPVC frames do not need painting, do not rot, and carry a modern double-glazed unit with a proper thermal break. We supply and fit them, and we take the old frames away.

Why uPVC

The frame stops being the maintenance job.

  • Nothing to repaint

The colour runs through the frame rather than sitting on it, so there is no repainting cycle and no rot at the sill where water sits.

  • A real thermal break

A modern uPVC frame and a double-glazed unit work as one system, which is what actually stops the draught and the condensation, rather than new glass in an old frame.

  • Measured to your opening

Frames are made to the opening we measure, so they are not packed out with foam and trim to cover a size that did not fit.

  • We take the old ones away

Removal and disposal of the old frames and glass is included, and the opening is made good and sealed before we leave.

How it works

From draughty opening to sealed and finished.

Our designer measures and draws up your job, the glass is made to those measurements by trusted local glass manufacturers such as Garibaldi Glass, and one of our own installation teams fits it.

  1. 01

    Site measure

We measure each opening, check the state of the existing frame and sill, and tell you which windows genuinely need replacing and which only need a new sealed unit.

  2. 02

    Fixed written quote

You get an itemised quote covering glass, hardware, finish and installation, with the options priced separately so you can see exactly what each choice costs.

  3. 03

    Made to your measurements

Frames are made to your measurements in the colour and configuration you chose, with the glazing specified for the room, and the opening hardware set up before delivery.

  4. 04

    Installation & walkthrough

We remove the old frames, fit and level the new ones, seal inside and out, make good the trim and check every opener and lock with you.

Window FAQ

Common questions about window replacement.

Something not covered here? Call +1-778-69-ALPHA (25742) or send us a photo of the job.

My window is foggy between the panes. Do I need a whole new window?

Probably not. That fog means the sealed unit has failed, and if the frame and hardware are sound a new unit goes into your existing frame in an hour or two for a fraction of the cost. We will tell you which it is at the measure rather than quoting the bigger job by default.

How long does a house of windows take?

Most openings take an hour or two each once the frames are made, so a typical house is one to three days on site. The lead time that matters is manufacturing, which starts once you accept the quote, and we confirm that date in writing first.

Will the inside need redecorating afterwards?

There is usually some making good around the reveal, and we do that as part of the fit. If your openings are plastered right up to the frame we will warn you at the measure, because that is the case where a decorator may be needed after us.
